Dangerous Drugs & Defective Medical Devices

Dangerous prescription drugs and defective medical devices cause thousands of serious injuries and deaths every year. Many medications that are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are later found to be dangerous drugs.

At Allen & Nolte, our pharmaceutical lawyers provide a long track record representing people who have been hurt by drug companies. We take pride in our attorney client relationships by working hard to protect your legal rights.

Our experienced attorneys are constantly helping people who have suffered needlessly because of a dangerous drug or faulty medical device. If you or a loved one have experienced additional medical problems based on a prescription medication or defective device, think about putting our decades of experience to work for you.

Invokana

Invokana (canagliflozin) was approved by the FDA to treat Type II diabetes by reducing blood glucose levels. It is in a class of drugs known as SGLT2 inhibitors. Unfortunately, so many patients experienced severe personal injuries after taking Invokana that it later received a “black box” warning for amputations and kidney problems.

Taxotere

This FDA-approved prescription medication is blamed for thousands of people suffering permanent total hair loss (alopecia). Although Taxotere (docetaxel) is approved for treating other types of cancers, most victims are women who have been injected with the drug as part of their breast cancer treatment.

Gadolinium Deposition Disease

Gadolinium Deposition Disease affects patients who have been treated with gadolinium-based contrast agents during magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) tests. Gadolinium is a dye made from a toxic heavy metal that is injected in more than 20 million MRI/MRA patients every year.

IVC Filters

An IVC filter is an FDA-approved medical device designed to prevent blood clots from reaching the heart and lungs. The device is surgically implanted in the inferior vena cava, a large vein that runs along the middle of the abdomen. When an IVC filter breaks, it can cause small pieces to flow through the bloodstream and create severe health problems.

Xarelto

This pharmaceutical drug is a blood thinner that received FDA approval to treat blood clots and help people at high risk for strokes. However, thousands of patients who took Xarelto (rivaroxaban) say it caused uncontrolled bleeding and made them worse.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Prescription testosterone replacement therapy, also called androgen replacement therapy, is used to treat male hypogandism (low testosterone or “Low T”). This treatment also has been found to significantly increase the risk of heart attacks in older men, as well as younger men with pre-existing diagnosed heart disease.
