Defective IVC Filters Attorneys

IVC Filters

An IVC filter is an FDA-approved medical device designed to prevent blood clots from reaching the heart and lungs. The device is surgically implanted in the inferior vena cava, a large vein that runs along the middle of the abdomen. When an IVC filter breaks, it can cause small pieces to flow through the bloodstream and create severe health problems.

Although IVC filters previously were used only on a temporary basis, newer filters were intended to be permanent. Regardless, many IVC filters fail after long-term use and now thousands of patients are pursuing the manufacturers in court.
